      Welcome to the Belgian Metal Directory. This section explains how the directory is organised and how the information in the band profiles should be interpreted. 1. ALPHABETICAL ORGANISATION The directory is organised alphabetically by band name. There are no ranking positions. A band appearing earlier or later in the directory does not indicate importance, popularity, quality or historical significance. The directory is intended as an archive, not a competition. 2. BAND PROFILES Each documented band can receive its own dedicated forum topic. The profiles follow a common structure wherever information is available: Band Status Location Formed Genre Line-up Former members Discography Latest Activity Website Contact Label Management Booking Social Media Festival History Sources Checked Not every field will necessarily contain information. When information is not publicly available, this is indicated rather than guessed. 3. SOURCE STATUS ✔ VERIFIED The information has been supported by two sources or by one primary official source. ◐ PARTIALLY VERIFIED The main information is considered usable, but some details remain incomplete, uncertain or conflicting. ○ UNCONFIRMED The information could not be sufficiently confirmed from the available sources. n.p. Not Public. The information is not publicly available or could not be established from the sources checked. 4. SOURCES Possible sources include: Official band websites Official Bandcamp pages Official social-media pages Record labels Festival archives Metal Archives Discography databases Interviews Established music publications Documented live-performance information The purpose of listing sources is transparency. Where possible, visitors should be able to trace information back to its original source. 5. DATES Dates in the profiles can refer to: Formation of the band Release dates Line-up changes Festival appearances Latest documented activity Date on which the profile was checked A release or activity mentioned in a profile does not necessarily mean that the band is currently active unless the profile specifically states this. 6. LINE-UPS Band line-ups can change over time. Where a complete current line-up could not be reliably established, the profile indicates this. Former members are included where they are relevant and sufficiently documented. 7. DISCOGRAPHIES Discographies are included as documented in the available sources. Depending on the band, this can include: Demos EPs Full-length albums Splits Compilations Live releases Singles Reissues The directory does not attempt to rank releases. 8. CORRECTIONS Metal scenes are constantly changing. If you discover: an incorrect date an incorrect line-up a missing release a broken website an incorrect genre description a missing social-media account an outdated status a missing festival appearance or another factual error please report it in: ADD A BELGIAN METAL BAND Please provide a source whenever possible. 9. NO RANKING This directory does not rank bands. There is no: #1 band best band most important band best album top ten The alphabetical position is purely organisational. The aim is documentation and preservation of the Belgian Metal scene. 10. KEEPING THE DIRECTORY ALIVE The Belgian Metal scene has a long history and continues to develop.
