In the mid-2010s, Gloomer dropped a electronic track blending Bishop John Shelby Spong’s sharp interview clips with atmospheric sounds. The core message cuts through traditional religion: Hell isn’t real, it’s a tool churches invented to control people through guilt and fear.

Heaven and Hell create a reward-punishment system that keeps folks dependent, like children who never grow up. Spong, a retired Episcopal bishop, urges people to mature, take responsibility, and see religions as human-made paths to the divine mystery, not the final word. God isn’t boxed into one faith; all traditions are just ways to explore something bigger.

Looking back from today’s vantage point, this piece captured an important crack in the old paradigm. It exposed how institutions used fear to maintain power, encouraging listeners to question dogma and seek personal growth.
