Governments killed 262 million of their own people last century – that’s called democide.

This thesis argues democide only works because of People’s Stockholm Syndrome: when a population lives under constant state threat, isolation and propaganda for long enough, they fall in love with their kidnapper to survive, start policing each other, and defend the very system that is destroying them.
