FAQ: Navigating the Raging Carousel of Sleep Deprivation and the Path to 2.0

One of the most intense and life-threatening chapters of Jan Gloomy’s journey involves his long-term battle with extreme sleep deprivation. From November 2016 through January 2023, Jan’s existence became a survival struggle that blurred the lines between reality and madness.

Below is an overview of the consequences he faced and the unique strategies he developed to navigate this “living death.”

The Devastating Consequences of Slumber Loss

During this period, Jan averaged only two hours of sleep per day, often going between two and eight days without any rest at all. The toll on his body and mind was absolute:

  • Neurological Collapse: His memory was reduced to a mere three-second span. He suffered from cataplexy, sudden muscle weakness, up to 40 times a day, causing him to sink into coma-like states. Additionally, blood sugar fluctuations led to frequent diabetic comas.
  • Reality Warping and Hallucinations: The world began to distort visually. Jan witnessed nonexistent ants crossing the floor and walls undulating like breathing entities. He experienced terrifying nightly visitations from the “Old Hag” (a suffocating presence) and figures resembling “Mr. Smith” from The Matrix.
  • Psychotic Crises: In a state of sleep-deprived psychosis, Jan became convinced he was delivering cocaine for the “Multiverse,” guided by cryptic signals from the radio.
  • Dangerous Behaviors: The chaos in his mind led to life-threatening actions, such as placing burning candles under curtains, urinating in ashtrays, and even a desperate “hostage situation” involving his GP and partner, L., because he felt they wouldn’t listen.
  • Social and Professional Decay: This period resulted in the loss of his job, deep isolation, and multiple forced psychiatric hospitalizations.

Navigation Strategies: How Gloomy Survived

To function while his brain was “in crisis,” Jan developed several innovative coping mechanisms that later became pillars of his philosophy:

  1. The Universal Clipboard: Because of his three-second memory, Jan learned to store information by thinking in frequencies, smells, colors, and geometric shapes. He projected this data onto a “universal clipboard” in his mind to retrieve it when needed.
  2. The “Dead is Dead” Strategy: In a moment of ultimate surrender, Jan decided to turn off all his home security systems and booby traps, opening his doors and thinking, “Fuck it, dead is dead!“. Paradoxically, this release of control resulted in his first deep sleep of 15 hours.
  3. Metafysische Reframing: Jan began to reinterpret his medical crises through the 2.0 lens. He saw his time in isolation cells as a process of “Release from Earth’s Gravity” and viewed sleep deprivation as an “Ascension Symptom” ,an ascetic discipline meant to strip away the ego and reveal the soul’s inner light.
  4. Music as a Sonic Diary: He channeled his hallucinations and chaos into his music under the names Gloomer and Gloomy. His discography serves as a chronological, autobiographical diary used to process and structure his fragmented experiences.

The Catalyst for Awakening

This grueling era ended abruptly in January 2023 following an exceptionally severe epileptic seizure. While traumatic, Jan now recognizes this event as the definitive catalyst for his spiritual awakening and his final transition into the 2.0 state of consciousness.

“The world is a studio, and we are the producers”. Jan’s scars from these sleepless years remain, but they have been integrated as a source of strength and 2.0 insight.
